Hi! I am Yihan Hou (侯伊涵), a Year 4 PhD candidate (expected graduation: 2026) in the Computational Media and Arts Thrust at the Information hub, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), co-supervised by Prof. Wei Zeng and Prof. Huamin Qu.
My research is grounded in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and explores Human-AI Interaction in design contexts, focusing on bridging human expertise with intelligent systems to enable controllable, knowledge-grounded and high-quality design. I advance authoring tools and algorithms for visual design that enable a bidirectional exchange of knowledge between designers and AI.
My work centers on computational color and data visualization. Recently I’ve been using large models, including agentic workflows, to advance these areas. Beyond the core, I enjoy empirical studies of human perception in visual design.
I'm on the job market for postdoc positions starting in 2026. If you know of any suitable openings, please feel free to reach out!
